In today’s episode we talk with Dr. Forrest Talley about essentials for a happy, healthy home. And we talk with Beth Reeder Johnson about reimagining the holidays.
Essentials for a Happy, Healthy Home
Dr. Forrest Talley is a clinical psychologist who has been helping adults, teens and children for over 30 years. He joins us today to talk about some of the essentials for a happy, healthy home. This includes things like discipline, favoritism, having meal time, and just having fun together. Families are full of diverse people with different interests and strong opinions. Disagreements and resentment can make families feel far from connected.
Dr. Talley talks with us today about how to ensure that these things are not going on in your home. And if they are, how to resolve them. Every family is different and unique, and at the end of the day they are your only family. So cherishing the good times, and hashing out the issues, will create a much more loving and inviting environment for all family members.
Reimagining the Holidays
Beth Reeder Johnson is a licensed individual, family & couples therapist as well as a certified Imago Therapist trained to help couples reconnect. She joins us today to talk about reimagining the holidays. Some of the biggest conflict that couples have happen during the holidays and revolves around extended family. Because you have to choose whose family you will see during the holidays, it can create a lot of resentment. Beth talks about how she works with couples more often during the holidays because of the drastic impact these issues have on the relationship.
She also talks with us about meditating to reduce stress and to reframe your mindset on the issues you and your partner are going through. Listen in to hear what else Beth has to say about this.
