Another awesome show today One Life Radio listeners – Cody Myler is here to prepare us for that first time back in the gym. And Dr. Will Tuttle, author of The World Peace Diet, is here to update us on his mission to open people’s minds about where their food comes from, potentially leading them to rethink their food choices.
Getting Back Into a Workout Routine after Quarantine
Cody Myler, also known as the Keto Cowboy, is here to tell us all is not lost if we’ve been slacking on our workout routines under quarantine. Don’t feel bad if you have, because you are not alone. I’m a little bummed that my government-mandated party-of-one on my sofa is over. Myler has tips to keep the first workout from being as painful as we may think it’s going to be. To avoid injury and excessive soreness, Myler suggests starting slowly, easing into the old routine. Start with 75 percent of your old weight and do higher reps. You should be back to your regular routine within two weeks.
He also has some good news and bad news. Let’s start with bad and get it over with. We lose 10-15% of our muscle mass when we stop working out for as little as two weeks. Ready for the good news? If you’ve always been pretty active, you’ve built up muscle memory. Myler explains that our bodies remember the muscles we amassed prior to our break, so we get in shape faster than someone who has never worked out.
Myler says to not let the first time back in the gym make you nervous. Take it slow, listen to your body and ask for help if you need it. And, CONGRATS for getting back in the gym! For more tips, follow Cody @myler_flex or @NXTRepFitness.
The World Peace Diet
We’re very excited to catch up with Dr. Will Tuttle, the author of the #1 Amazon best-selling book The World Peace Diet, as well as his most recent book, Your Inner Islands: The Keys to Intuitive Living. He is a former Zen monk and Dharma Master in the Zen tradition.
His main message or wish with the World Peace Diet is for everyone to just question the practice of imprisoning and killing animals for our protein and nutrients. We can get everything we need to live from plants. Dr. Tuttle believes that if we start to spread a positive message to stop harming living beings, it will lead to world peace. When we think of the importance of what we eat, we should consider the importance not just for ourselves, but for the planet.
We would never want anyone to touch or harm our pet.Why would anyone let millions of animals be abused on a daily basis? Our society has disconnected from where our food actually comes from, and have turned a blind-eye to the atrocities happening in factory farms. We are all created from the same source. Let’s treat each other with love and kindness, animals included.
We will continue the conversation around The World Peace Diet with Dr. Tuttle on June 3rd, so mark your calendar and tune in. You can also learn more about Dr. Tuttle at worldpeacediet.com or circleofcompassion.org.
