Today we talk with Dr. Alvin Danenberg about his cancer healing journey. Dr Ian Smith joins us to talk about the benefits of walking and sprinting. Miriam Kalamian and Shawn Wells talk about using keto for cancer.
Incurable Cancer: A Healing Journey
Dr. Alvin Danenberg has an aggressive form of bone marrow cancer and is currently on a healing journey. He has been joining us to give us updates on his health status and his treatment plan. Dr. Al’s cancer makes his bones weak and prone to fractures. Most recently, he fell and was bed ridden for quite some time. But he pulled through and is currently walking successfully with a walker! Yay, Dr. Al!
His treatment plan has been unconventional, and successful. He has not done chemotherapy, and solely using alternative treatment options. Dr. Al talks with us today about how he is implementing Immunotherapy starting this week (this is a new treatment that was just recently approved.) He was given 3 months to live in September of 2018, so he has surpassed his prognosis and is looking forward to his journey going forward.
Walking & Sprinting with Dr. Ian Smith
Dr. Ian Smith is the author of the best-selling SHRED diet books, and his newest book “Clean & Lean.” He is currently the medical contributor and co-host of the nationally syndicated television show The Rachael Ray Show. He joins us today to talk about the benefits of walking and sprinting. We go into interval training, resistance training, and all the ways you can start an exercise routine just by walking.
Keto for Cancer
Miriam Kalamian is a nutrition consultant, educator, and author specializing in the implementation of ketogenic therapies. Her book, “Keto for Cancer” documents how the ketogenic diet targets cancer. Today she joins us to talk about how you can modify the ketogenic diet for certain cancers, age, or lifestyle.
Shawn Wells is a registered dietitian, certified sports nutritionist, and fellow through the ISSN. He is an expert in the ketogenic diet as well, so he elaborates on some of the new information being published and modifying the keto diet for cancer. One of the main concerns with cancer patients is losing lean body mass, so Miriam and Shawn talk about what you should do to make sure your diet is helping you maintain lean body mass.
Then Miriam and Shawn talk about the science of using keto for cancer, and how it works to shut it down. There has been huge success with keto for brain cancer patients, and oncologists have been implementing it in their treatment. So the future for the ketogenic diet for cancer treatment is bright.
