Preparing Your Pets For Fall
The virtual Furball is around the corner! Each year, the SPCA usually throws a Gala with food, fun, and fur, but this year, it’s virtual! Click here for more information on the Furball Dallas! So donate a little money, throw on a dress, invite a few people over, and celebrate the Furball with Maura Davies and Bernadette!Pet needs during the Fall and Winter change, believe it or not! Make sure your pets are up to date on vaccinations! Be sure to change what you are looking for in your animals. Instead of heat exhaustion, be aware of hypothermia! Hypothermia signs are shivering and really tight muscles. If you are cold outside, they are cold outside. If you are hot outside, they are hot outside. Please protect your pets! Remember, cats and dogs can still get fleas and ticks in the winter. Don’t stop flea and tick medication just because it’s chilly outside. There are other ways to exercise your pet during in climate weather! If you have a dog that really loves the outdoors, consider doggie clothes like raincoats and boots if they are really itching to run outside. Keep your pets hydrated, just because it’s winter doesn’t mean your pet isn’t just as thirsty as they would be in the summer! Remember to take care of your fur babies.

Life Stage Nutrition For Your Pets
Animals lives are kind of compresses as compared to humans. Nutrients for animals through their food is extremely critical. Bernadette points out that humans when deprived of proper nutrition can have behavioral issues. RuthAnn says vets are definitely looking into that. Our older dog’s brains need a lot of extra nutrition and care! Regular check ups with the vet is important. Having that vet and the professional evaluation is so important. Chat with them! Once your pet hits 1 year of age, they are an adult! When your pet hits 7 years, they are starting to hit their senior life. Wet food for your pet is about preference. Dr. Lobos says it’s important to introduce different textured foods to cats from a young age! Cats are very particular about textures. When older, cats are especially prone to renal and kidney diseases o wet food becomes preferable for its moisture content.Bernadette asks if Dr. Lobos always wanted to be a veterinarian. Since she was little Dr. Lobos wanted to be a vet! She loved animals! Even in kindergarten, RuthAnn wanted to be a “cat,” but once she learned you can’t grow up into a difference species, she decide on vet! We are glad she did.
