Suicide Prevention

Shawn once struggled with suicide. Shawn grew up in a chaotic home, where he was bullied daily. He kept his head down and worked on his studies, but tried to make people laugh whenever possible. After years of suffering, Shawn tried to take his own life. Bernadette points out that our own perception of ourselves is so powerful. We accept the ideas that are cast over us when we are children, but often forget our own paths. Shawn says there was never a huge paradigm shift in his life when he realized he needed to change his life, but instead a lot of little changes that added up to something big.Give yourself some space and remember to set boundaries. Also, don't forget to take a break whenever you start to feel overwhelmed. Whatever you were doing, it will still be there when you get back. Take some water out of your stress bucket.

Resilience

Shawn says that there is physical and mental resilience. You need both kinds of resilience to be strong from all angles! There is the idea of a stress bucket. You only have so much capacity for stress, so be careful that you don't fill up your bucket too fast without a way to empty it out. Shawn says to watch "The Social Dilemma" on Netflix! It is important to understand how children are comparing themselves in these times. Children are now comparing themselves to 8 billion other people instead of to the neighbor down the street. The influx of algorithms and tech has caused a need for different kinds of resilience, and more resilience at a younger age.Bernadette says we need to be thought leaders. Look into your inner circle to become the best you. You will become who you hang out with! Surround yourself with the best people you can find to learn how to be resilient on all levels. We are designed to overcome, not succumb!

Supplements For Mood

Folic acid and B vitamins are so important for brain health! If we aren’t firing correctly in our brain then we aren’t conducting well, if we aren’t firing at our full capacity, we can’t be totally resilient! If you have been using SSRI’s, try zembrin. Zembrin is a plant from South Africa. It has a long history of use as a traditional medicine by tribes of South Africa. It has been used to enhance mood and cause relaxation. Oil of oregano is not for the faint of heart, but it is one of the most potent antioxidants known to man! Other supplements and vitamins that can better your mood are Ginkgo biloba, Valerian, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Melatonin, Probiotics, Curcumin and Magnesium, so go to your local supplement store and stock up!
