Happy Tuesday!

Bernadette has happy news! The One Life Radio podcast has been going great in Australia! Australia of all places! Right now, there are 1,000,000 active podcasts in the world. In the category of alternative health, OLR places #232! How interesting! We have a great show for you all today with Mory Fontanez on at half, so stick around! First up we have Susan Burrowes discussing managing seasonal affective disorder, so let's get started!

Susan Burrowes

Susan Burrowes is a presenter, teacher, trainer and project manager who holds a Master’s Degree in Communication. Mory took enough time out of her studies to produce the two extraordinary, challenging, terrible, wonderful children who continue to define her life. An award winning author, Susan’s day jobs span fifteen years in advertising, eight years teaching in the college classroom and another ten years training professionals in organizations how to communicate with each other, an irony that was not lost on her as she struggled to reach her addicted daughter. Susan currently works with a team of high achieving young adults in Admissions at the University of California Santa Cruz, where she ponders the question of teen success on a daily basis. She writes about the strength and determination of troubled teens and special needs children.

"Off The Rails"

Susan's story was unexpected for her, but typical for many others. Susan started to slowly notice changes in her 10th grade daughter. After misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis, finally, Susan's daughter went to an 18 month wilderness program to regain her health and wellness. The worst sign for Susan's daughter was not the drug use and the sneaking out, but the bloody bandages in the bathroom that were due to self harm. If you see your child cutting, take them to a mental health specialist immediately. Television and movies often glamorize cutting or self harm, but it is quite the opposite. It is silent pain. A scream for help. Don't let stigma stop you or your family from getting help. Don't shy away from group therapy, or therapy as a whole.

Why Operating from Abundance Instead of Fear is Crucial for Your Career

When you work from fear, you limit yourself and your ability to flourish! Abundance simply means that there is more than enough for everything. Money, solutions, time, understanding that there are many routes to find a solution, that is abundance. Where are the areas in your career that you have hit a wall? Is your feeling of hitting a wall fear or reality? Give yourself unconditional love! Once you put good energy out there, you'll get good energy back. The first thing you'll notice is new doors and opportunities opening for you that you didn't expect! See criticism for what it is, but don't allow others to pull you into their hurricane. Look at gratitude around you! Understand what joy feels like to you so you can attribute gratitude with it.
