Why Do Dogs Howl At The Moon?
We are talking about full moons! If you hear dogs howling it it probably not the dogs howling at the moon, unfortunately. They may be howling at other things! Bernadette says that all her dogs would start howling as soon as she would leave her property. Why? Maura says it could be a rallying cry, a warning, or just an “I’m over here” howl! If you see someone yawning you’ll often yawn, the same is the truth for dogs and howling! Howling is not always happy though. Dogs can often howl if they are in pain, confused, or lonely! Be aware of your dogs howling and don’t dismiss it!Coyotes howl too! Coyotes are often yelling to communicate prey being near. They can also howl during breeding season to attract mates. Maura and Bernadette talk about the phrase "once in a blue moon." There are 2 full moons to take place in October including one on Halloween! Maybe expect a lot of dog howling! The Greek and Roman goddesses of the moon is always pictured with dogs. It makes you think that maybe the dogs are on to something with the moon! Please bring your animals inside this winter! If you are cold, they are cold!

Is Halloween A Trick Or A Treat For Your Pets?
Do animals get scared of scary decorations and costumes! You bet! Animals can get startled and taken off guard just like we can! Bernadette says be wary of dogs getting into your kids' halloween candy! Chocolate contains called Theobromine, which is a kind of derivative of caffeine. Dogs however, can not break Theobromine down. It Is almost like a dog eating a whole bag of espresso beans! The higher the concentration of cocoa, the higher the risk of your dog suffering the consequences of the toxins. Xylitol is growing in popularity, and is particularly poisonous for cats and dogs! It affects their liver. Like xylitol and cocoa, marijuana is also very poisonous. Be sure to. tell your Vet everything if your pet gets into marijuana, they won't judge you! They just want to save your furry family member.Do you all dress up your pets? You know your pets the best! Dress your pet up for halloween if they don't mind it. Don't dress up your fur baby for long periods of time if they visibly seem to not enjoy it. Dr. RuthAnn says give your pet a holiday themed treat to get them in the festive mood! Castor & Pollux Pet has some pumpkin flowed treats, and so does the Merick side! Don't be afraid to put a sweater on your shorter coat dogs, as they sometimes need more warmth than your thick coated furry family members.
