Dr. Will Tuttle and Tina Bernet

It's Workout Wednesday! Tina Bernet Allen and our host Bernadette Fiaschetti are comparing 90s workouts to today's trends. Dr. Will Tuttle is back to teach us how world peace begins with animals.

Let's Get Physical

Tina Bernet Allen and Bernadette talk about how the exercise routine has changed over the years. In the 80s it was all aerobics, now it's strength training. The workouts today include short duration, high-intensity weight training. Back in the day it was high duration, low-intensity. The amount we exercise has changed, too. Doctors recommended at least three days a week for at least 30 minutes. Now, plans are designed around the person, and are much more flexible.Even diet trends have changed. Remember low fat, high carb diets? I actually had a friend whose hair fell out from not eating fat.  Now it’s the opposite with Keto, Paleo and plant-based lifestyles. The lesson is there’s no one-size-fits-all for workout plans or diets. Talk to an expert, listen to One Life Radio, talk to friends and do your research. You'll find the perfect plan to work for you. World Peace Begins with Animals

Dr. Will Tuttle, author of the World Peace Diet, gives us his perspective on the recent protesting in the U.S. He says it’s necessary for individuals to be able to voice opinions for change, but violence is never the answer. Dr. Tuttle says hitting back at people who have been harmed never helps. Gandhi said “an eye for an eye makes the world blind.” We can hate someone's behavior, we don't have to hate the person. He says the underlying cause of unrest is when human beings begin to look at other people and animals as objects rather than living beings. Dr. Tuttle believes this mindset is the result of our continuous mistreatment and torture of animals, mostly through factory farming.  We torture animals daily worldwide for our food consumption, entertainment, clothing, furniture, jewelry, knick-knacks and more. Until we believe that every living being deserves kindness and compassion and take action to end needless animal suffering, we will not end racism or war.

We know even the idea of changing your life-long food habits is daunting. But, one small change can impact the entire planet.

Try a plant-based meal once a week

. You'll feel better, help the environment, facilitate peace and save an animal's life all at once. Can you say that about a Big-Mac?

Try it! We'd love to hear what you make for your plant-based meal. Let us know, and we might share your story on the air! And, definitely get Dr. Tuttle's best-selling book,

The World Peace Diet.
