Dr. Jonathan Avery and Von Eaglin

Today we do a Q&A with Dr. Jonathan Avery about addiction and the stigma surrounding it. Then we talk with Von Eaglin about whether or not men and women can really be, "just friends."

Addiction Q&A

Jonathan Avery, MD, is a psychiatrist in New York, New York and is affiliated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell. He received his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine and has been in practice between 6-10 years. He does a Q&A with us today to talk about the stigma of addiction. Whether your vice is alcohol, opioids, or sugar they all weigh the same when it comes to the word "addiction." In other words, no one addiction is greater than another. There is such a stigma around the word addiction and those who struggle with it. As if we didn't live in a cruel world already, add stigmatizing addiction on top of it.Dr. Avery answers some of the most asked questions revolving around addiction, and we talk openly about the best resources for someone who might be struggling. Can Men & Women Really Be "Just Friends?"

Von Eaglin is a licensed professional counselor who focuses on couple relationships dialogue. Today we talk about whether or not men and women can have a strictly platonic relationship. This is so controversial because most of the time friendships between women and men are viewed differently from either end. Whether the male thinks the female is just a friend or vice-versa, but usually one person is on a different level. This has to be case-by-case because the popular vote was: YES - men and women CAN be just friends.***What do you think? Let us know in the comments what your opinion is on this, or if you've had your very own experience dealing with this scenario!***Connect with Von:Website, Instagram
