FURRY FRIDAY Amanda Atwell - Dallas Animal Services, Heather White - Teens Stand Up Against Climate Change #2023

It’s Furry Friday, Amanda Atwell joins us from Dallas Animal Services to talk about the ways to keep your pets safe during the 4th of July fireworks, and the steps you can take if your pet runs off. Amanda also reminds us how important it is to spay and neuter our pets. Don't have one? Consider adopting a pet from Dallas Animal Services. All the pets up for adoption are spayed or neutered, have all their vaccines, and are microchipped. And, adoption is FREE at DAS! Stop by this weekend for their "Big Dogs for Big Daddies" Father's Day adoption event. When you adopt a dog, you'll also get a $50 Petco gift card! Amanda Atwell is the Public Information Coordinator for Dallas Animal Services. Amanda has a background in journalism, specifically sports media. During COVID, she started fostering neonatal kittens and found a new passion. She continued to volunteer through the duration of her sports television career, but as a Fort Worth native, she eventually felt called back to DFW with hopes of working in animal welfare full-time. Since then, she has been utilizing her skills as a journalist to work with the media and create content for Dallas Animal Services. Visit bedallas90.org for more information on adopting and more at Dallas Animal Services.

Next, Heather White joins us to talk about how teens are “Thinking Above Their Age,” and Standing Up Against Climate Change. Heather White is a nationally recognized conservation and environmental policy expert, and the founder of One Green Thing, a nonprofit that tackles anxiety about the climate crisis through joyful daily action, inspiring culture change for policy solutions. At OneGreenThing, Heather and her team inspire service and action through their Service Superpower Assessment and #OneGreenThing challenges. Her debut book, One Green Thing: Discover Your Hidden Power to Help Save the Planet is a guide to show readers how they can contribute to the climate movement through self-discovery using their own personality, interests, and strengths. For more information on Heather White and her most recent novel visit her website OneGreenThing.org
