Denver voters just recently voted on a ballot to decriminalize psilocybin mushrooms, commonly referred to as psychedelic mushrooms. This doesn't legalize the drug, but makes it illegal to make an arrest of someone 21 years or older in possession of these mushrooms. Dr. Dan Engle is certified in psychiatry and neurology and studies the effects of psychedelics on the brain and on healing. He is the author of the book "The Concussion Repair Manual: A Practical Guide to Recovering From Traumatic Brain Injuries," and he focuses a lot of his research on this type of conversation. Today we talk about what psilocybin does inside the brain and how it is being used for anxiety and depression. He will be joining us again to continue the conversation.Dr. Forrest Talley is a clinical psychologist and today we focus the conversation on child and teen depression. This is something that can be extremely hard to spot in your child because they may act and say they are fine. But inside they could be suffering. Dr. Talley talks to us about opening up the dialogue with your children so that you can identify it before it gets to far gone. Dr. Talley also talks to us about how to turn things around for your child who may be dealing with some depression. The statistics say that 5% of teens experience some form of depression, so as parents we have to be vigilant and pay attention to the signs.
