Microbiome Bootcamp

The gut microbiome is influenced by so many things. The human gut microbiome is seen as an organ with its own environment, compiled of a large number of microbes, which exist in a symbiotic state. Symbiosis allows for the different microorganisms to exist in a mutually-beneficial state. There are approximately 38 billion microbes found in our gut microbiota. The gut is arguable the most impactful on the body. There are so many different interactions that the gut converses with. Probiotics are microorganisms that are intended to have positive health benefits when consumed or applied to your body. Probiotics can be found in food or in dietary supplements. Prebiotics are non-digestible food components that help stimulate the growth of your good gut bacteria. Sometimes probiotics have a hard time colonizing your gut. Prebiotics help fertilize them, almost like fertilizing your lawn for lush, green, healthy grass. In a nutshell, probiotics provide humans with positive health benefits by helping improve gut health, while prebiotics essentially feed the probiotics to help them do their job. Bet you never knew there was so much going on inside your intestines! Jared and Bernadette talk all about Chron’s disease, and what may or may not cause it.

Fast Burn! The Power of Negative Energy Balance

Fast Burn is a 9 week program. The idea is simple. It is not always what you eat, it is more, when you eat it. Dr. Ian Smith kept pancakes, alcohol, pasta, and bread in his plan. But the difference is he teaches us how to eat it properly and when to eat it! He teaches our body how to store energy and not convert it to fat that ends up being stored. Fat is a storage form of energy that our body uses when they can’t find energy. Bur for Dr. Ian, he finds ways for us to enjoy an unrestrictive diet while cutting inches off our waists and adding years to our lives. This plan is all about diversity -- every day is spelled out for you during the nine week plan. But the two most important ingredients are fiber and protein. They make you feel full longer. They help with your digestion and they help you lose weight faster. No matter what anyone says, you need fats in your life. Unsaturated fats won’t kill you. But be early and reduce saturated fats in your diet and life. By all means, avoid trans fats. Once a trans fat enters your body, it does not leave, remember that. When you do intermittent fasting, start slow. Do not try and start too fast with 16 hour fasts, bur rather start with 12 hour fasts and 12 hour eats. Keep it simple. You do not have to have a lot of equipment or money to put yourself into the fast burn diet and lifestyle.
