Dr. Judson Brewer
Dr. Judson Brewer is an internationally renowned addiction psychiatrist and neuroscientist. He is the Director of Research and Innovation at the Mindfulness Center, and the Associate Professor in Psychiatry at the School of Medicine at Brown University. Dr. Jud is also the Executive Medical Director of Behavioral Health at Sharecare. His new book is Unwinding Anxiety: New Science Shows How To Break the Cycles of Worry and Fear to Heal Your Mind.
How to Break the Cycle of Worry and Fear
Anxiety is the feeling of worry of a certain outcome, or lack of knowing the outcome. Worry and anxiety can create a loop. If something feels good once you worry and feel better, you are creating a neural pathway and then you end up creating anxiety again. Procrastination is big anxiety trigger because you are nervous to start. Then, worry kicks in if you are going to do whatever it is correctly. There really is no amount of time that it takes to break a habit. You have probably heard it takes 21 or 28 days to break a habit, but that is not true.
We are all addicted to something. From everything from emotional eating to shopping. Addiction is continued use despite adverse consequences. When we hear addiction, most of us think about cigarets, alcohol, or drugs. Dr. Judson Brewer sheds light on the lesser known addictions like texting while driving, checking your email too much, and more. Anxiety is never good. Some people say that some anxiety is good to get people to perform, but there is no real evidence to support this.

The ABC’s of Vitamins and Supplements
Magnesium citrate is one of the most common magnesium formulations and can be easily purchased online or in stores worldwide. Some research suggests that this type is among the most bioavailable forms of magnesium, meaning that it's more easily absorbed in your digestive tract than other forms. There are a lot of manufacturers now, and the supplement business is very lucrative. You know a company is reputable really if you’ve only seen it with your own eyes. We of course love Thorne, Sunwarrior, and Enviromedica and trust them with the form of their vitamins and supplements.
As a refresher from last week, know why you want to take supplements. Two, read your labels. Three, fill the gaps. A majority of people, and statistics support this, everyone should be taking a vitamin D supplement. The difference between vitamin d and vitamin d3 is that one comes from the sun and hits our skin, and the one that can be bottled and ingested is vitamin d3. But, get a blood test just asking your doctor. Blood tests are a great way to see what your body is lacking in. Another supplement everyone should be taking is a great multivitamin phytonutrient blend that fits your needs. The brand Jill Lane uses “Primal Multi.” A lot of us are burning the candle on both ends, so a lot of us are struggling with stress, sleep, and gut health.
