Today we talk with Autumn Warren about probiotics and oil pulling, and we talk with Peter Zheutlin about his newest book Rescued.Autumn Warren creator of Ether Elixir talks about probiotics and the benefits of oil pulling."Coconut oil pulling is one of the best ways to remove bacteria and promote healthy teeth and gums. In fact, it’s been proven to be even more effective than flossing, and it’s one of the best ways to naturally whiten your teeth. It has taken quite some time, but oil pulling has finally gained some popularity in the United States.Used primarily in Ayurvedic medicine, oil pulling — known as gandusha in Ayurveda — specifically coconut oil pulling, is a fantastic oral detoxification procedure that’s simply done by swishing a tablespoon of oil (typically coconut oil, olive or sesame oil) in your mouth for 10–20 minutes.Oil pulling works by cleaning (detoxifying) the oral cavity in a similar way that soap cleans dirty dishes. It literally sucks the dirt (toxins) out of your mouth and creates a clean, antiseptic oral environment that contributes to the proper flow of dental liquid that’s needed to prevent cavities and disease."Read more about the benefits of oil pulling here. Peter Zheutlin answers a few questions about Rescued:

  1. In the introduction to RESCUED, you say this isn’t one of those clichéd “Who Rescued Who” books. How do you view the dog-owner relationship? Do you identify as a “dog parent”?
  2. What are a few examples of the lessons that dogs can teach us?
  3. One of the many great joys of rescuing a dog is that moment when you realize they finally feel at home. What are a few examples of a dog’s “homecoming” moment?
  4. There are service or assistance dogs, emotional support dogs and therapy dogs, but you say regardless of any specific training, dogs often play a therapeutic role in our lives. Can you talk a bit about the emotional and spiritual support dogs often provide to those who love them?
