Today we talk with Ingrid Newkirk, President and founder of PETA, about her new book, Animalkind.

Ingrid Newkirk - Animalkind

Ingrid Newkirk is a true pioneer in the animal rights movement. She is the president and founder of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), the largest animal rights organization in the world. She is the author of several books including her newest book, Animalkind: Remarkable Discoveries About Animals and Revolutionary New Ways to Show Them Compassion. Ingrid has dedicated her entire life to help educate and advocate for those without a voice. We talk with Ingrid about the successes that PETA achieved in the last year, which includes New York City Council Bans the Sale of Foie Gras, and Dunkin’ Is Going National With Beyond Sausage. Animals deserve to have a chance at life just like any other living being. Because, at the end of the day humans are just animals too, right?About The Book:

"In the last few decades, a wealth of new information has emerged about who animals are—intelligent, aware, and empathetic. Studies show that animals are astounding beings with intelligence, emotions, intricate communications networks, and myriad abilities. In Animalkind, Ingrid Newkirk and Gene Stone present these findings in a concise and awe-inspiring way, detailing a range of surprising discoveries: that geese fall in love and stay with a partner for life, that fish “sing” underwater, and that elephants use their trunks to send subsonic signals, alerting other herds to danger miles away."

Here is a past episode we did with Ingrid.
