Kip Watson and Von Eaglin

Today we talk with Von Eaglin about how to know if you are raising a narcissist, and then we talk with Kip Watson about the power of an apology.

Are You Raising a Narcissist?

Von Eaglin is a licensed professional counselor and a certified couple relationships trainer. Today we talk with him about narcissism, and specifically what goes into raising a narcissist. Von tells us today, there is no special formula to "good" parenting, or raising the perfect child. But, there are things that can lead to a child developing into a narcissist. Being a parent and being a friend are two different jobs, and should be treated as such. Because, when we decide to befriend our children, we tend t0 forget to hold them accountable.Von tells us how important it is to instill responsibility in our children so that they do not become selfish and privileged adults. When parents take care of everything for their kids, their kids can become entitled. Parents have to create a routine for their kids so that they understand they can't do whatever they want, when they want, and how they want. There has to be guidelines and rules, this creates for a more responsible and self-motivated adult.

The Power of an Apology

Kip Watson is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor. She is a certified trainer for the Positive Coaching Alliance, a certified life coach, and one of the few Certified High Performance Coaches (CHPC) in the world. Today we talk with her about apologies. When it comes to giving an apology, there is a lot that goes into it. Kip talks with us about the criteria that must be met for an apology to be considered a real apology. We talk about the different versions of apologies, because they all can mean different things. Also, we talk with Kip about how time varies on a person's healing after an apology. If you are the one who is doing the apologizing, you have to be patient for that person to come back around. But at the end of the day, an apology could be the answer that can provide healing and reconciliation in so many circumstances. So get out there today, and apologize!
