Dr. Ian K. Smith and his new book, Mind Over Weight

We are so excited to have Dr. Ian Smith on for the launch of his new book, Mind over Weight: Curb Cravings, Find Motivation and Hit Your Numbers in 7 Simple Steps.Dr. Smith’s new book has seven valuable lessons to teach us how to unlock our motivation for healthy eating.  He explains why we so often try a diet for a while, but eventually revert back to donuts and french fries. The main culprit to overeating is dopamine. This chemical in our brain is released whenever we see a food we like. If you love chocolate cake, your brain automatically releases dopamine upon seeing a cake. And, it happens every time until you develop a "craving".  The good news is that cravings are transient. If you remove yourself or avoid the cake all together, your craving will go away, too. You can outlast your craving!  Dr. Smith's book also lists some amazing sweet but healthy swaps you can use while learning to manage your cravings. He also recommends chewing gum, staying hydrated, sleeping and chromium to maintain insulin levels. You can now order Mind Over Weight online. Tina Bernet

Tina Bernet of Extreme Studio Performance talks about exercise and immunity. We have plenty of time to exercise right now. While, it's not proven that exercise directly helps immunity, it does provide physiological effects that will affect overall health and well-being. You can find hundreds of exercise routines on the internet, but Bernet says to chose your workouts wisely. She recommends youtube.com to find all kinds of workouts. Chose the ones that are on your fitness level. Also, walk, ride your bike or do anything outdoors using social distancing. Outdoor activity is great for overall well-being. Also, make sure you have achievable goals. Once you hit your first one, make another slightly larger one. Small changes lead to big results.Learn how to do a perfect reverse lunge from Tina in the One Life Radio studios.https://www.instagram.com/tv/BzOARTYHJ42/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
