Sweet & Savory Hors D'oeuvresIngredients
  • Chia seed crackers made with chia seeds, sunflower seeds & sesame seeds
  • Your Favorite filling (a mixture of cooked ground meat, vegetables, herbs & spices)
  • (You can substitute Hummus for the filling if you desire.)
  • Pitted Medjool Dates
  • Sliced Onions sauteed in coconut aminos & olive oil
  • a drop or 2 of Balsamic Vinegar
  • Sea Salt
  • Cracked Pepper
Ingredients for Chia Seed Crackers
  • 1/4 cup of chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup of sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • dash of sea salt
  • cracked pepper
  • coconut oil spray
Instructions for Chia Seed Crackers
  1. preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. mix all seeds together with water, sea salt & pepper
  3. wait about 5 minutes until mix has thickened
  4. spray a baking sheet or pizza stone with coconut oil and spread the nut mixture evenly until flat
  5. sprinkle with more sea salt and pepper, bake for 30 minutes
  6. remove from oven, cut into squares and flip pieces
  7. return to oven and bake an additional 15 minutes until crisp
Instructions for Sweet & Savory Hors D'oeuvres
  1. Layer the chia seed crackers with all ingredients and serve with your favorite wine!

We talked about the health benefits of drinking wine in moderation this morning on today's One Life Radio show. Red wine contains Resveratrol, a natural polyphenolic compound which may help with oxidation and in fighting cancers. We made a delicious appetizer that is both sweet & savory to go with your favorite wine. We used chia seed crackers for the base. Chia seeds are high in Omega 3's & fiber. Filler& Medjool dates are high in vitamins & minerals like B-12 & Folate.
