Logan Shiels

Gua-Sha, Body Brushing, Body Painting
Gua-sha or kerokan, is part of traditional Chinese medicine in which a tool is used to scrape people's skin in order to produce light petechiae. This helps with lymphatic drainage! Gua-sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation. Use the massage tool to up the body towards the heart, and then back down the body. Dry brushing is also an effective way to invigorate your skin! To dry brush, you use a natural-bristle brush to gently but firmly brush your skin in long strokes toward your heart, usually going over each area two or three times. At your belly, you brush in a clockwise motion. Dry brushing is typically done before showering, and should be followed with a vitamin-rich moisturizer or your oil regiment!
Sharon St. John
Sharon St. John is the author of the memoir Me, Myself and Men, a memoir in which she explores her personal self-esteem struggles and how they have affected her relationships with men. She believes that low self-esteem is like being trapped in your own mental prison, and hopes her story can help others to recognize and work through their own self-esteem issues. She has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from St. John’s University, and has worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for 20 years.
Me, Myself, and Men
Sharon thinks that when people are born, comparisons immediately start. When you start comparing yourself to other people, that is the first mistake you can make. Sharon had a very rough upbringing, when her mother put her into foster care, and then tried to get her back after a long time. Abandonment can effect everyone differently, but for Sharon, she had to become comfortable with herself in order to get over her abandonment issues. While jogging, Sharon's mind ran through what she heard people ay about her, and she came to the conclusion to that she has to be okay with herself at the end of the day. You can not control the past, but you can control yourself and where you are in the moment.Because Sharon didn't use to love herself, she found herself settling for anything. Toxic relationships made her stay in situations that she found herself in, all because she felt she wasn't good enough. When Sharon realized how amazing and special she was and is, she discovered that she deserved more!
