Recycling

In today's episode we talk with Maura Davies about whether or not dog's can see in color. Then we talk with Dr. Alvin Danenberg about his current cancer treatment, and Stephanie Toups talks about recycling and how we might be recycling incorrectly.

Do Dog's See in Color?

That's the million dollar question. Maura Davies is the VP of Communications at the SPCA of Texas, and today she answers it for us. It's pretty shocking the quality of sight that dogs have, especially at night. And not just dogs, cat's are practically made to be night owls with their impressive night vision. But, whether or not these animals see in color - you'll just have to listen and find out! Davies also reminds us to spay and neuter our pets.  Call your local SPCA for more info.

Dr. Al's Cancer Treatment (Update)

Dr. Alvin Danenberg is a periodontist with over 40 years of experience. He has been joining us for a few years now, but most recently to talk about his own battle with cancer. Dr. Al was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a form of cancer in the bone marrow. He was given 3-6 months to live, back in September of 2018. Dr. Al is using alternative treatment methods like diet, immunotherapy, supplementing, and more. Today he gives us an update on his new diet plan - the Carnivore diet. It may seem strange, but he is seeing great results from his immunotherapy along with this eating regimen. To follow along with his treatment and read about the science of this diet, you can read his blog here.

11 Things You Really Should Stop Recycling

Recycling can be sort of a complex process. For beginners, it's hard to know what can and cannot be recycled. And some people simply don't take the time to research or ask the questions. This can really disrupt the recycling process, and in the end do more harm than good. Stephanie Toups is a consumer advocate professional, who primarily focuses on beauty and personal care products. She has done her share of research and reading to learn the in's and out's of proper recycling skills. There is a lot that goes into how we recycle. The items have to meet a standard to be recycled, and some pieces or attachments cannot be recycled. For instance, a pizza box. Yes, cardboard boxes are recyclable however, once drenched in pizza grease that item cannot go through a recycling warehouse. If it does, it can ruin many other items and the equipment. This makes for such a frustrating and costly process. Stephanie goes into more detail, and tells which 11 items we should stop recycling, immediately!
