Fourth Of July Pet Safety
Fourth Of July can be scary and even devastating for pets. The good news is that you have lots of tips to help protect your cats and dogs. If you have lost your pet, search your home thoroughly. Check all areas that are accessible to your pet, inside and outside. Especially for cats, check inside appliances, under furniture, and in drawers & closets. Canvas the neighborhood on foot. Search within a quarter-mile radius. Look both during the day and again at night. Injured animals will often hide during the day. Check hazardous areas such as open sewers, ditches, and vacant lots, as your pet may have become trapped there. Tell your neighbors you have lost your pet and ask them to call you if they see it. If you have people that can help you look, divide and conquer and immediately check social media groups, the pound, and please, microchip your pet.
Everyone who owns a pet should put together a Lost Pet Packet to keep in case of an emergency: Have a current photo of your pet. Write out a description of your pet while viewing them, noting special markings or scars. Write out important information that would go on a flyer to circulate throughout the area where the animal was lost. Make a list of names and phone numbers of vets, police, animal shelters to keep as an emergency list. Most important, be sure there are copies of the pet's vaccination records. Microchip your pet! Your vet can simply scan your pet to see if their microchip is still active, and keep the microchip numbers handy in a computer or physical file. Please spay and spay and neuter your pets.

Treating Insulin Resistance with a Low Carb-Ketogenic Diet
What does insulin have to do with overall health? Insulin is a peptide hormone produced by beta cells of the pancreatic islets; it is considered to be the main anabolic hormone of the body. It regulates the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and protein by promoting the absorption of glucose from the blood into liver, fat and skeletal muscle cells. We have to have insulin present to move cells throughout the body. Insulin kept us alive when we were hunters and gatherers and had to depend on stored fat. The problem is we have not evolved as a species to have more sugar in our diet yet, for the first time ever, our children’s life expectancy is expected to be lower than ours.
The great news is, you can reduce blood glucose levels and reverse obesity and even fatty liver disease through a low-carb, ketogenic diet. Many think of Keto as just meat and cheese, but Dr. Hull explains that it’s so important to be sure and get all the nutrients we need.
