Happy Furry Friday!

Renaldo and Bernadette are trying to go higher today! We have furbulous news! We have partnered with Castor & Pollux. As the leader and maker of America’s #1 organic pet food, Castor & Pollux has set a new standard with the most comprehensive portfolio of purposeful pet food. Let’s get started! Patti Dawson of Dallas DogRRR, Maura Davies of The SPCA, and Lisa LaVerdiere are all here representing animal advocacy!

Maura Davies

Maura Davies is the Vice President for Marketing & Communications at the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) of Texas. As a longtime friend of One Life Radio, Maura is with us almost every Friday!

Virtual FurBall

The SPCA has been in the Dallas community since 1938 providing services for animals! The Furball had to be shelved in 1998, but it has been back consistently for 15 years! Maura and The SPCA Texas never thought they would throw the Furball in a pandemic! So this year, it's virtual! The SPCA of Texas is thrilled to announce that Fur Ball 2020 will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. And this year, the SPCA of Texas’ gala is going virtual for the first time due to COVID-19 with a program that is sure to inspire and uplift the spirits. The one-of-a-kind virtual experience will feature mission-focused stories, entertainment and gratitude, all with a focus of raising important funds for the SPCA of Texas in support of our critical work in our community through live and silent auctions packed with fabulous items. It was a hard decision for Maura and her team to go virtual, but we are so thankful they made the choice to keep it going, despite the pandemic! There is a suggested donation of $100, but every dollar counts. The money goes directly to help the kittens, bunnies, puppies, ratties, chickies, and horsies!

Patti Dawson

Patti started volunteering with Dallas DogRRR in 2014. Dallas DogRRR was established as a Non-Profit in 2015. She began running the rescue, acing as president by January of 2016. In her real work outside her volunteer work, she is behavior specialist and a Mom and a Wife.

Dallas DogRRR

Dallas Dogrrr is celebrating! Yesterday was North Texas Giving Day! Dallas DogRRR's goal was 85k, but they managed to raise $106,383! What a huge thing done for animals that will make such a difference in North Texas! After Hurricane Harvey, Dallas DogRRR went worldwide! They recently received a gift for a dog all the way from Kuwait! Patti has worked so hard to make a difference in these animals life. So much work goes into animal rehabilitation, but it is so rewarding when you can make a difference.Dallas Dogrrr recently started Serenity's project! After a dog with a large face tumor made a large impact on Patti's life, she decided to start a program in Serenity's legacy. The Serenity Project is a community outreach program that will provide families with the resources they need to keep their animal in their home. NO animal should go without food, supplies, and medical treatment. Serenity was severally emaciated when she was picked up by animal control. She was an owned dog that someone allowed to go untreated. They do not know the circumstances behind Serenity's story, but they do know that they will help other dogs like Serenity in her honor.

They need fosters, so don't be afraid to open up your home temporarily for a furry friend! Apply to be a foster today!

Lias LaVerdiere

Lisa is the Executive Director and Founder of the

Home for Life Animal Sanctuary

. They were named one of the "10 Most Amazing Sanctuaries in the Country" by USA Today in 2019. Home for Life® offers an option beyond adoption and euthanasia for animals with special needs. This "Third Door®" option is a long-term animal sanctuary, where animals receive the medical attention they need in a stable, loving and safe environment.

Home For Life Animal Sanctuary

After finding a deep love for Animals when she was young, Lisa knew she had to do something for animal welfare! Lisa started feeding and taking care of animals and realized there was a need for a next step option beyond adoption and euthanasia for animals. The term "Third Door" was coined based off of game shows! Behind door number... you know? There are only two ways to leave an animal shelter. Adoption, or euthanasia. Lisa thought there was a third option for animals that were not finding happy endings behind the adoption door, so the Third Door was born.Since the start, over 2,000 animals found their homes for life and lived out the rest of their time in peace. On a 40 acre property, they have around 200 animals at any given time. You can tour The Home For Life Animal Sanctuary in Wisconsin!
